Place the flour in a bowl and create a well in the center. Beat the eggs and pour them into the well.
- 2
Add milk and mix. Incorporate ground nuts, baking powder, and cardamom. Fold the ingredients until a pliable dough forms.
- 3
Roll out the dough into a thin rectangle using a rolling pin. Re-roll from the longest side in 3cm-wide bands, then roll into a long line. Cut horizontally into 3cm pieces.
- 4
Heat vegetable oil in a deep saucepan to frying temperature. Meanwhile, bring 1L of water to a boil in another saucepan.
- 5
Pour sugar into boiling water and stir gently until a thick syrup forms. Reduce heat and let simmer.
- 6
Gently drop each piece of dough into hot oil. Fry until golden brown, then immediately dip into warm syrup.
💡 Chef's Tip
For optimal texture, ensure the oil is at the right temperature before frying. Quickly plunge fried pieces into syrup for good absorption. This recipe keeps well for 2-3 days in an airtight container.
