🛒 Ingredients

10 servings

10
  • 3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons neutral oil or olive oil
  • 1 cup (250 ml) warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. 1

Place the flour in a large bowl and make a well in the center.

  2. 2

Stir the salt into the warm water until dissolved, then gradually pour it along with the oil into the well, mixing continuously until a shaggy dough forms.

  3. 3

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

Shape into a ball, cover with a damp cloth, and rest for 30 minutes — skipping this step will make the dough tough and hard to roll.

  5. 5

Roll out to about 2 mm thick, cut into rounds or squares, add your filling, then press the edges firmly to seal.

  6. 6

Fry in oil heated to 350–360 °F (175–180 °C) until golden brown, then drain on paper towels and serve hot.

💡 Chef's Tip

Keep the dough covered while you work to prevent it drying out. A fork or pastry crimper along the edges gives a neat seal that holds up during frying.
