🛒 Ingredients

8 servings

8
  • 500 g (4 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 50 ml (3½ tbsp) olive oil
  • 250 ml (1 cup) warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ tablespoon fine salt
  • 1 packet (10 g / 2¼ tsp) active dry yeast

Directions

  1. 1

Combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl, stirring well to distribute evenly.

  2. 2

Slowly pour in the warm water while stirring — hold back a little water to adjust consistency later.

  3. 3

Add the olive oil and begin working the dough with your hands until it comes together into a shaggy mass.

  4. 4

Turn the dough out onto a work surface and knead vigorously for about 5 minutes.

  5. 5

The dough should feel soft and slightly tacky — if it seems stiff, add the remaining water a splash at a time.

  6. 6

Keep kneading until the dough is completely smooth and pulls cleanly away from your hands and the surface.

  7. 7

Shape into a ball, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and rest for 30 minutes in a warm spot before using.

💡 Chef's Tip

Don't rush the kneading — it builds gluten and gives the dough its characteristic elasticity. A stand mixer with a dough hook (6–8 min on medium) works great if you want to save effort.
