🛒 Ingredients

6 servings

6
  • 250 ml hot water
  • 250 ml cold milk
  • 3 level tablespoons sugar
  • 2 level tablespoons margarine or butter
  • 1 level teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 packet dry baker's yeast (7 g) or 21 g fresh yeast
  • Approximately 1 kg all-purpose flour

Directions

  1. 1

Grease your bread pans with margarine or butter and set aside.

  2. 2

Add the hot water, cold milk, sugar, margarine, salt, eggs, and yeast to a blender. Blend for 2 minutes until smooth.

  3. 3

Pour the mixture into a large bowl and let it rest for 15 minutes to activate the yeast.

  4. 4

Gradually stir in the flour using a spoon, mixing gently to prevent lumps from forming.

  5. 5

Keep adding flour and mixing until the dough becomes too stiff to stir, then switch to kneading by hand.

  6. 6

Knead gently until the dough pulls away from your hands — it should feel slightly tacky but not sticky.

  7. 7

Divide the dough into small portions, roll each one flat, and roll up like a Swiss roll.

  8. 8

Place in the prepared pans and let rise in a warm spot for 30 to 45 minutes.

  9. 9

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (355 °F) for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.

💡 Chef's Tip

Make sure your water is hot and your milk is cold — the temperature contrast is key to activating the yeast effectively. Feel free to shape the dough into rolls, braids, or mini loaves, and freeze baked portions for up to one month.
