🛒 Ingredients

4 servings

4
  • 500 g pasta (penne or rigatoni)
  • 500 g sausages, sliced into rounds
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 can tomato sauce (400 g)
  • 200 ml water (half the can)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Grated cheese to serve (optional)

Directions

  1. 1

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until golden and fragrant.

  2. 2

Pour in the tomato sauce, then use the empty can filled halfway with water and add it to the pan. Stir well to combine.

  3. 3

Add the sliced sausages and season generously with salt and pepper.

  4. 4

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and concentrated.

  5. 5

Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions. Drain well.

  6. 6

Remove the sauce from heat and pour it over the drained pasta. Toss gently to coat every piece.

  7. 7

Serve immediately, topped with grated cheese if desired.

💡 Chef's Tip

Add a pinch of dried oregano or a bay leaf while the sauce simmers for extra depth. Smoked sausages work especially well and add a wonderful complexity to the dish.
