Directions
- 1
Sift the flour onto a clean work surface or into a large bowl and create a well in the center.
- 2
In a blender, combine eggs, sugar, salt, oil, warm water, and yeast until smooth and well combined.
- 3
Gradually pour the blended mixture into the flour well and knead vigorously for about 10 minutes until the dough is soft and elastic.
- 4
Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 5
Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion out into a rectangle about 5 mm thick.
- 6
Cut each rectangle into 4 strips lengthwise, then crosswise into 4 pieces, creating 16 small squares per portion.
- 7
Place a piece of guava paste in the center of each square and roll up tightly, pinching the edges firmly to seal.
- 8
Arrange the rolls side by side in a greased baking pan and brush with egg yolk mixed with a little water.
- 9
Allow to rise again for 30 minutes, then bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C (390 °F) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
💡 Chef's Tip
Can't find guava paste? Substitute with quince paste or any thick fruit jam. For an equally glossy finish, strong black coffee works just as well as egg yolk.
