Caramelized Bananas with Condensed Milk and Cinnamon

ML
By Marie Lefebvre · Updated October 15, 2026

A no-bake Brazilian classic that comes together in ten minutes: ripe bananas pan-fried until golden, then drowned in sweet condensed milk and dusted with cinnamon. The warm fruit against the chilled, almost-frozen cream is the whole point. Foolproof, cheap, and always a hit.

🛒 Ingredients

4 servings

4
  • 4 ripe bananas (caturra or similar)
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz / 397 g)
  • 2 tbsp margarine (or butter)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. 1

Peel the bananas, slice them lengthwise, then cut each half in two.

  2. 2

Melt the margarine in a skillet and fry the bananas for 2–3 minutes per side, until soft and golden.

  3. 3

Arrange the bananas in a shallow dish, pour the condensed milk over them and sprinkle with cinnamon.

  4. 4

Chill for at least 1 hour, until the topping is very cold and almost set. Serve right away.

💡 Chef's Tip

A handful of toasted cashews or a little lime zest cuts through the sweetness. Keep the dish properly cold — the warm-fruit-against-cold-cream contrast is what makes it special.
