🛒 Ingredients

1 servings

1
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons whole powdered milk
  • ½ cup (120 ml) whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt

Directions

  1. 1

In a small saucepan, whisk together the cornstarch, powdered milk, sugar, and salt while still cold. Gradually pour in the milk, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.

  2. 2

Place over medium heat and stir constantly until the mixture thickens to a soft, creamy custard consistency — this takes about 5 to 7 minutes.

  3. 3

Remove from heat and stir in the butter until fully melted and the frosting is glossy and smooth.

  4. 4

Allow to cool slightly before spreading over your cake. Garnish with white chocolate shavings, lemon zest, or fruits in syrup for an elegant finish.

💡 Chef's Tip

For extra richness, substitute half the milk with sweetened condensed milk (reduce the sugar accordingly). Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 2 days.
