🛒 Ingredients

10 servings

10
  • 3 bread rolls (or equivalent amount of white bread)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2½ tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons margarine (plus extra for the pan)
  • 1½ tablespoons sugar (plus extra for the pan)
  • Milk, enough to soak the bread

Directions

  1. 1

Tear the bread rolls into chunks and soak them in milk for 5 minutes until completely softened.

  2. 2

Transfer the soaked bread to a blender, then add the eggs, margarine, sugar, and flour.

  3. 3

Blend until smooth. If the batter is too thick, add a splash more milk and blend again until lump-free.

  4. 4

Grease a baking dish with margarine and coat evenly with sugar, then pour in the batter.

  5. 5

Bake at 350 °F (180 °C) for approximately 40 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

Let cool for 10 minutes before unmolding. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.

💡 Chef's Tip

Stir in a teaspoon of vanilla extract for extra depth, or dust the top with cinnamon before baking. Slightly stale bread works even better — it absorbs the milk more evenly!
