🛒 Ingredients

10 servings

10
  • 4 cups (400 g) stale bread, crumbled or finely ground
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups (300 g) granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons (45 g) softened butter
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ to ¾ cup milk (add gradually to adjust consistency)

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 °F (180 °C). Grease and flour a baking pan.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, and softened butter together until you get a light, creamy mixture.

  3. 3

Gradually fold in the crumbled stale bread, alternating with the milk, until the batter is smooth and well combined.

  4. 4

Stir in the baking powder gently until fully incorporated.

  5. 5

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35–40 minutes, until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

💡 Chef's Tip

Add a teaspoon of cinnamon or vanilla extract for extra flavor. Any stale bread works — baguette, sandwich loaf, or dinner rolls all give great results.
