🛒 Ingredients

1 servings

1
  • 500 g (17.6 oz) vegetable shortening, at room temperature
  • 1 can (395 g / 14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • Gel food coloring of your choice (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Directions

  1. 1

Remove the vegetable shortening from the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before starting so it is soft and pliable.

  2. 2

Place the softened shortening and the sweetened condensed milk in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment.

  3. 3

Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes to combine, then increase to high speed and continue beating for 5–7 minutes until the frosting is light, fluffy, and completely smooth.

  4. 4

If desired, add a few drops of gel food coloring and mix on low speed until evenly colored. Divide the frosting into separate bowls to make multiple colors.

  5. 5

Use immediately to frost and decorate your cake using an offset spatula or piping bag.

💡 Chef's Tip

Always use gel food coloring instead of liquid — it gives vivid colors without thinning the frosting. Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days; re-whip briefly before using.
