🛒 Ingredients

10 servings

10
  • 500 ml whole milk
  • 8 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 pinch of fine salt

Directions

  1. 1

In a bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar and cornstarch. Gradually add about 100 ml of cold milk, whisking vigorously until you get a smooth, lump-free paste.

  2. 2

Pour the remaining milk into a saucepan and whisk in the cocoa mixture until fully combined. Place over medium-low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon.

  3. 3

Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring continuously, until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of the spoon.

  4. 4

Remove from heat and stir in the butter and salt until fully melted and the sauce is glossy and smooth.

  5. 5

Pour immediately over a warm cake for deep absorption, or allow to cool slightly for a thicker consistency.

💡 Chef's Tip

For an extra moist cake, poke it all over with a skewer before pouring the hot sauce — it soaks right in and makes every single slice incredibly indulgent.
