🛒 Ingredients

4 servings

4
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold water
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) cornstarch
  • Food coloring (gel or liquid), as desired

Directions

  1. 1

In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cold water and cornstarch until fully dissolved with no lumps.

  2. 2

Add the granulated sugar and stir to combine. Add a few drops of food coloring and mix to achieve your desired shade.

  3. 3

Place the saucepan over medium-low heat and stir constantly with a whisk or silicone spatula.

  4. 4

Cook for 5–7 minutes until the mixture thickens and turns translucent. It should coat the back of a spoon.

  5. 5

Remove from heat and let cool for 2–3 minutes before pouring or brushing over your dessert.

💡 Chef's Tip

Apply while still slightly warm (around 35–40 °C / 95–105 °F) for the best shine. If the glaze sets too thick, gently reheat in a double boiler. Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 5 days.
