🛒 Ingredients

4 servings

4
  • 200 g (7 oz) dark or milk chocolate, for coating
  • 200 g (7 oz) creamy dulce de leche (caramel spread)
  • 32 Marie biscuits (about 4 packs, depending on size)
  • Shredded coconut or powdered sugar for garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. 1

Place one Marie biscuit flat on a clean work surface. Spread a generous layer of dulce de leche evenly over the top.

  2. 2

Set a second biscuit on top, press gently, then spread another layer of dulce de leche.

  3. 3

Add a third biscuit and another layer of dulce de leche.

  4. 4

Place a fourth biscuit on top, leaving the upper surface plain with no dulce de leche. You now have a biscuit sandwich. Repeat with the remaining biscuits.

  5. 5

Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until smooth and fluid.

  6. 6

Using two forks, dip each sandwich into the melted chocolate and coat it completely. Let the excess drip off.

  7. 7

Transfer the alfajors onto a wire rack or parchment-lined baking sheet, making sure they don't touch each other. Sprinkle with coconut or powdered sugar if desired.

  8. 8

Refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or 30 minutes in the freezer) until the chocolate is fully set. Serve chilled and enjoy!

💡 Chef's Tip

Add a small knob of butter to the chocolate when melting for a glossier finish. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. For extra depth, stir a pinch of cinnamon into the dulce de leche before spreading.
