Brazil's most beloved chocolate dessert in its creamiest form — a silky, ganache-like cream that melts on the tongue. Made with just a few pantry staples, it comes together in under 20 minutes and disappears even faster.

🛒 Ingredients

12 servings

12
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz / 395 g)
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 pinch of fine salt
  • Dark chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. 1

Melt the butter over medium heat in a heavy-bottomed saucepan, stirring to prevent browning.

  2. 2

Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and sifted cocoa powder all at once. Stir vigorously until smooth and lump-free.

  3. 3

Add the pinch of salt and keep stirring continuously for 8 to 10 minutes, until the mixture thickens and pulls cleanly away from the sides of the pan.

  4. 4

Remove from heat and spoon the cream into individual glasses or ramekins. Let cool to room temperature.

  5. 5

Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, then top with dark chocolate shavings before serving.

💡 Chef's Tip

For extra depth of flavour, swap half the cocoa powder for melted 70% dark chocolate. Stay by the stove — the mixture can catch and burn quickly toward the end of cooking.
