Directions
- 1
Tip the milk powder into a large, clean, dry bowl.
- 2
Add the sweetened condensed milk and the soft butter, then start mixing.
- 3
Work the mixture with your hands: the warmth of your palms helps it thicken in a way a spoon simply cannot.
- 4
Knead until you have a smooth, even dough that no longer sticks to your fingers.
- 5
Don't worry if the condensed milk looks like too little at first — it is plenty.
- 6
Roll the dough into small balls, coat them in desiccated coconut and press a clove into the top of each one.
💡 Chef's Tip
Keep the brigadeiros in an airtight container in the fridge, where they will last up to 5 days. Take them out 10 minutes before serving so they soften again. No coconut? Roll them in milk powder or icing sugar instead.
