🛒 Ingredients

4 servings

4
  • 1 kg (2.2 lb) chicken hearts, cleaned
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced into rings
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, to garnish

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 180 °C (350 °F). In a bowl, combine the chicken hearts with garlic, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Toss well and let marinate for 10 minutes.

  2. 2

Spread the seasoned chicken hearts in a medium baking dish. Layer the onion and green pepper rings evenly on top.

  3. 3

Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes, allowing the hearts to cook through gently and stay tender.

  4. 4

Remove the foil and return to the oven for another 10 minutes until the vegetables soften and the hearts develop a light golden crust.

  5. 5

Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve hot alongside white rice or mashed potatoes.

💡 Chef's Tip

Make sure to clean the chicken hearts thoroughly, removing any blood clots for the best texture. A squeeze of lemon juice added to the marinade brightens all the flavors.
