🛒 Ingredients

10 servings

10
  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • ½ cup (125 g) mayonnaise
  • 1 egg yolk for egg wash
  • Filling of your choice: shredded chicken, cheese, tuna, sautéed vegetables, or ham

Directions

  1. 1

Combine the flour and mayonnaise in a large bowl. Mix with your hands until a smooth, pliable dough forms. Add a tablespoon of flour if too sticky, or a little extra mayo if it feels dry.

  2. 2

Lightly flour a clean surface and roll small portions of dough into thin rounds roughly 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter.

  3. 3

Place your chosen filling in the center of each round, leaving a ½-inch border all around, then fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape.

  4. 4

Press the edges firmly together to seal — use a fork to crimp them for a decorative finish.

  5. 5

Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush the tops with beaten egg yolk, and bake at 390 °F (200 °C) for 18–20 minutes until golden brown. In an air fryer, cook at 360 °F (180 °C) for 10 minutes.

  6. 6

Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or a crisp green salad.

💡 Chef's Tip

The fat in the mayonnaise acts as both the binder and the shortening, so no butter or eggs are needed in the dough itself. Try a sweet version filled with Nutella and sliced banana for a fun dessert twist!
