🛒 Ingredients

2 servings

2
  • 2 cans sweetened condensed milk (800 g total)
  • 400 ml whole milk (one condensed milk can measure)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 tablespoons sweetened drinking chocolate powder (such as Nesquik)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 200 ml heavy cream

Directions

  1. 1

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the condensed milk, whole milk, cornstarch, cocoa powder, chocolate powder and butter. Whisk together until fully blended with no lumps.

  2. 2

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a whisk or silicone spatula for 10–15 minutes, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

  3. 3

Remove from heat and fold in the heavy cream, stirring vigorously until the filling is smooth and silky.

  4. 4

Allow to cool slightly before using as a cake filling, or pour into small cups and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to serve as a set dessert. Keeps for up to 3 days in the fridge.

💡 Chef's Tip

For an ultra-smooth texture, blend with an immersion blender once cooled. Swap the drinking chocolate for melted dark chocolate for a richer, more intense flavour.
