🛒 Ingredients

8 servings

8
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz / 395 g)
  • 400 g (1¾ cups) heavy cream or thick sour cream
  • 400 g (3 cups) whole milk powder
  • 2 tablespoons margarine or unsalted butter

Directions

  1. 1

Combine the condensed milk, heavy cream, milk powder, and margarine in a medium saucepan. Stir well off the heat until the mixture is smooth and evenly blended.

  2. 2

Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly with a spatula or wooden spoon to prevent sticking.

  3. 3

Once the margarine has melted and the mixture begins to simmer, reduce to low heat. Continue stirring for 5–8 minutes until the cream thickens slightly.

  4. 4

Remove from heat — the filling will look soft at this stage. Allow it to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate. It will firm up into a spreadable, creamy filling perfect for layering and decorating.

💡 Chef's Tip

Swap margarine for butter for a richer flavour. Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a pinch of cinnamon for extra depth. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
