🛒 Ingredients

10 servings

10
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (125 ml) warm water
  • 2 cups (240 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 °F (180 °C). Grease and flour a bundt pan or a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. 2

Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, beat the eggs and sugar on medium-high speed for 4–5 minutes, until the mixture is pale, thick, and fluffy.

  3. 3

Reduce speed to low, pour in the warm water, and mix briefly. Sift in the flour and baking powder, then beat until you have a smooth, lump-free batter.

  4. 4

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.

  5. 5

Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.

💡 Chef's Tip

Stir a teaspoon of vanilla extract or the zest of one lemon into the batter for extra flavour. A dusting of powdered sugar makes an elegant and effortless finish.
