🛒 Ingredients

1 servings

1
  • 5 tablespoons sweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 can (14 oz / 397 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 pinch of sea salt

Directions

  1. 1

Combine the sweetened condensed milk and sifted cocoa powder in a small heavy-bottomed saucepan, stirring until smooth before placing on the heat.

  2. 2

Set over medium-low heat and stir continuously with a wooden spoon or heatproof spatula — do not stop stirring.

  3. 3

Cook for approximately 10 minutes until the mixture thickens and coats the back of the spoon.

  4. 4

Remove from heat immediately. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt if using.

  5. 5

Pour directly over your finished, fully cooled cake and allow to set for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

💡 Chef's Tip

Always glaze a cake that is completely cooled and ready to serve — this coating sets fast and will harden in the pan if left to sit. Soak the saucepan in hot soapy water right after use for effortless cleanup.
