🛒 Ingredients

1 servings

1
  • 200 g (1¾ cups) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. 1

Sift the powdered sugar into a large mixing bowl to remove any lumps and ensure a perfectly smooth base.

  2. 2

Gradually add the milk one tablespoon at a time, whisking constantly until the mixture is fluid and lump-free.

  3. 3

Stir in the melted butter and vanilla extract, then whisk vigorously for about 2 minutes until the glaze is smooth and glossy.

  4. 4

Check the consistency: it should coat the back of a spoon. Add a splash more milk if too thick, or a bit more powdered sugar if too runny.

  5. 5

Pour immediately over your cake, starting from the centre and letting it naturally cascade down the sides.

💡 Chef's Tip

Add a few drops of food colouring for a vibrant glaze, or swap the milk for fresh lemon juice for a fruity citrus twist.
