Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 2

Heat oil in a skillet and cook ground beef for 4-5 minutes, breaking it up with a wooden spoon until browned.

  3. 3

Add chopped onion and cook for 2-3 minutes, then stir in tomato paste and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  4. 4

Sprinkle with flour, stir, and cook for 1 minute. Add mushrooms, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce.

  5. 5

Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes. Let cool completely.

  6. 6

Pour the filling into a 4-cup pie dish. Roll out the pie crust on a floured surface and place it over the dish, pressing firmly around the edges.

  7. 7

Trim the edges, crimp the borders. Cut out leaf shapes from leftover dough and arrange them on top.

  8. 8

Brush with egg yolk and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

💡 Chef's Tip

You can prepare the filling the day before and refrigerate it. Let it cool completely before adding the pastry to prevent it from becoming soggy.
