A soft, spoonable dessert: ladyfingers soaked in chocolate milk under a silky condensed-milk cream, served ice-cold. No-fuss, generous, and the kind of treat that vanishes from the table.

8 servings

8
  • 1 packet of ladyfinger biscuits (about 200 g)
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk (397 g)
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 glasses of milk (about 500 ml)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • chopped chocolates or figs in syrup, for decorating

Directions

  1. 1

Line a rectangular baking dish with a first layer of ladyfinger biscuits.

  2. 2

Whisk the cocoa into one glass of milk, then soak the biscuits in this mixture.

  3. 3

Blend the condensed milk, the remaining milk, the cornstarch, the eggs and the pinch of salt until smooth.

  4. 4

Pour into a saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the cream thickens.

  5. 5

Pour the cream over the soaked biscuits, then repeat with a second layer of biscuits and cream.

  6. 6

Decorate with chopped chocolates or figs in syrup and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, until the dessert is well chilled.

💡 Chef's Tip

Let the cream cool slightly before pouring it over the biscuits — they hold their shape instead of turning mushy. Take the dish out 5 minutes before serving for clean slices.
