🛒 Ingredients

1 servings

1
  • 1 package ladyfinger biscuits
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3.5 oz dark chocolate (70%), grated
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • Fresh strawberries for garnish
  • Extra whipped cream for garnish

Directions

  1. 1

In a saucepan, whisk together the condensed milk, most of the milk, lightly beaten egg yolks, vanilla extract, and the flour dissolved in the reserved milk.

  2. 2

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the custard thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.

  3. 3

Remove from heat and fold in the heavy cream until smooth and fully combined.

  4. 4

Divide the custard equally between two bowls.

  5. 5

Into the first bowl, stir the grated dark chocolate into the warm custard until completely melted. Fold in half the diced strawberries.

  6. 6

Into the second bowl, gently fold in the whipped cream and the remaining diced strawberries.

  7. 7

In a serving dish, build the layers: vanilla-strawberry cream, ladyfingers, chocolate-strawberry cream, ladyfingers, vanilla-strawberry cream, finishing with the chocolate cream on top.

  8. 8

Pipe whipped cream rosettes over the top with a star-tip nozzle and decorate with whole fresh strawberries. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.

💡 Chef's Tip

Make this dessert the night before — the biscuits soak up the cream beautifully and the flavours deepen overnight. Dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa gives the best contrast against the sweet strawberries.
