Directions
- 1
Unroll the puff pastry sheet onto a flat surface, keeping the parchment paper underneath.
- 2
Spread the Nutella evenly over one half of the pastry using a spatula.
- 3
Fold the uncovered half over the Nutella layer and press gently to seal both layers together.
- 4
Peel away the top parchment paper and cut out Christmas shapes — stars, trees, snowflakes — using cookie cutters. Position the cuts close together to make the most of the pastry.
- 5
Twist any leftover pastry strips into Nutella-filled pastry twists and place alongside the cookies.
- 6
Transfer all pieces to a baking sheet lined with fresh parchment paper.
- 7
Brush each cookie generously with the lightly beaten egg yolk for a shiny golden finish.
- 8
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (350 °F) for 15–25 minutes, until puffed and deep golden brown.
- 9
Cool for a few minutes before serving. Dust with icing sugar for an extra festive look if you like.
💡 Chef's Tip
Keep the puff pastry as cold as possible throughout — cold fat is what creates those flaky layers. After folding in the Nutella, chill the pastry for 10 minutes before cutting for sharper, cleaner shapes.
