🛒 Ingredients

4 servings

4
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons honey or light corn syrup
  • 1 pinch of fine salt
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Directions

  1. 1

Combine all ingredients in a small heavy-bottomed saucepan.

  2. 2

Heat over low heat, stirring constantly with a silicone spatula until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves.

  3. 3

Continue stirring for 1 to 2 more minutes until the sauce is smooth, glossy, and slightly thickened.

  4. 4

Remove from heat as soon as the sauce coats the back of a spoon.

  5. 5

Serve immediately over ice cream, cakes, waffles, or your favourite dessert.

💡 Chef's Tip

For a deeper flavour, swap half the cocoa powder for finely grated dark chocolate. Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 5 days — gently reheat in a saucepan over low heat with a splash of water.
