🛒 Ingredients

5 servings

5
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 2/3 cup water (about 160 ml)
  • 1 pinch of salt

Directions

  1. 1

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the margarine and cocoa powder. Stir until they melt together into a smooth paste.

  2. 2

Gradually pour in the water in a thin stream, stirring constantly and vigorously to prevent lumps from forming.

  3. 3

Continue cooking over low heat, stirring non-stop, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

  4. 4

Remove from heat and let it cool slightly — the sauce will thicken further as it cools. Serve warm or at room temperature.

💡 Chef's Tip

For a glossy finish, stir in half a teaspoon of corn syrup. Store leftovers in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 5 days — reheat gently in a bain-marie or microwave with short bursts.
