🛒 Ingredients

4 servings

4
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp whole milk
  • 1 pinch of fine salt

Directions

  1. 1

In a small saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder and sugar until no lumps remain.

  2. 2

Add the milk and butter, then heat over low heat, stirring constantly with a spatula to keep the mixture smooth.

  3. 3

Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring continuously, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon.

  4. 4

Stir in a pinch of salt to deepen the chocolate flavour, then remove from heat.

  5. 5

Pour immediately over your warm cake or dessert for a shiny, glossy finish.

💡 Chef's Tip

Swap the milk for heavy cream for an even richer sauce. Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 3 days — reheat gently over a double boiler with a splash of milk to loosen.
