🛒 Ingredients

4 servings

4
  • 3 apples (Golden or Fuji variety)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour (180 g)
  • 1½ cups sugar (270 g)
  • 3 tsp baking powder (30 g)
  • 100 g (7 tbsp) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • Sugar and cinnamon for sprinkling

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Generously grease a baking dish or round cake pan.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and baking powder until combined. Set aside.

  3. 3

Peel the apples and cut into thin slices. Toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.

  4. 4

Arrange apple slices in an even layer at the bottom of the prepared dish. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

  5. 5

Spread the dry flour mixture evenly over the apple layer.

  6. 6

Drizzle the melted butter over the top, then pour in the beaten eggs. Spread to cover the entire surface.

  7. 7

Sprinkle more sugar and cinnamon over the top.

  8. 8

Bake for 35–40 minutes, until golden brown on top and a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.

  9. 9

Let cool for 10 minutes before serving directly from the dish.

💡 Chef's Tip

Slightly tart apples like Granny Smith create a better balance with the sweetness. Add a pinch of vanilla powder to the dry mix for extra depth. Keeps covered at room temperature for up to 2 days.
