🛒 Ingredients

8 servings

8
  • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 ripe tomato, diced
  • 1/2 cup pitted olives
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, to taste
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of black pepper and ground cumin blend
  • 2 cans (about 340g each) tomato paste

Directions

  1. 1

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until soft and lightly golden, about 3–4 minutes.

  2. 2

Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned all the way through with no pink remaining.

  3. 3

Stir in the diced tomato, olives, chopped parsley, salt and the pepper-cumin blend. Cook for 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring frequently.

  4. 4

Pour in both cans of tomato paste, stir well to combine, and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for 6–8 minutes, stirring often, until the sauce thickens and everything is well incorporated.

  5. 5

Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot with steamed rice, pasta, or crusty bread.

💡 Chef's Tip

For deeper flavor, stir in a teaspoon of smoked paprika or a bay leaf while simmering. Leftovers keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days and taste even better the next day.
