🛒 Ingredients

8 servings

8
  • 6 heaped tablespoons unsalted margarine
  • ¾ cup sweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup unsweetened pure cocoa powder
  • 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 pinches of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3.5 oz (100 g) dark chocolate (70%), chopped into small cubes
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or cashews

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 355 °F (180 °C). Line a rectangular baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar together until light and slightly foamy.

  3. 3

Melt the margarine and stir it into the egg-sugar mixture along with the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

Sift together the sweetened cocoa, unsweetened cocoa, flour, and salt. Fold into the wet mixture until a smooth batter forms.

  5. 5

Gently fold in the dark chocolate chunks and chopped nuts.

  6. 6

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40 minutes.

  7. 7

The brownie is done when the top is lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out slightly moist.

  8. 8

Cut into squares while still warm and serve with vanilla ice cream. To freeze, wrap each square individually and reheat in the microwave on high for 1 minute.

💡 Chef's Tip

For an extra fudgy center, pull the brownie out of the oven when the middle still has a slight jiggle — it will firm up as it cools. Avoid overmixing once the flour is added to keep the texture dense and tender.
