Directions
- 1
Make the chocolate brigadeiro: in a saucepan, combine one can of sweetened condensed milk, the cocoa powder, and 1 tablespoon of margarine. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture pulls away from the sides of the pan (about 10–12 minutes). Transfer to a buttered dish and let cool completely.
- 2
Make the vanilla brigadeiro: in another saucepan, mix the second can of condensed milk with 1 tablespoon of margarine. Cook over low heat until it reaches the same consistency — it should detach cleanly from the pan. Spread in a second greased dish and let cool.
- 3
Once both mixtures are completely cool and firm, scoop small portions of each (about 8 g), roll into balls, and gently press one chocolate and one vanilla ball together to form a pair.
- 4
Roll each casadinho in crystal sugar to coat evenly.
- 5
Place in paper cups and store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
💡 Chef's Tip
Both mixtures must be fully cooled before shaping — warm dough sticks and won't hold its form. If they feel too soft, refrigerate for 15 minutes before rolling. For deeper chocolate flavor, use unsweetened cocoa and add a tablespoon of sugar.
