🛒 Ingredients

10 servings

10
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz / 395 g)
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 package flavored gelatin (any flavor)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold
  • 7 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 egg whites

Directions

  1. 1

In a saucepan over low heat, whisk together the condensed milk, egg yolks, cornstarch, and whole milk. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens into a smooth custard.

  2. 2

Pour the custard into individual glasses or a large glass dish, filling only one-third full. Allow to cool completely.

  3. 3

Prepare the gelatin following package directions and set aside to cool until lukewarm — liquid but not hot.

  4. 4

Beat egg whites to stiff peaks, then gently fold in the cold heavy cream and sugar to create a light, airy mousse.

  5. 5

Carefully pour the lukewarm gelatin over the chilled custard, keeping the layers distinct.

  6. 6

Spoon the whipped cream mousse generously over the gelatin layer.

  7. 7

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until fully set, then serve well chilled.

💡 Chef's Tip

Red or green gelatin creates a stunning visual contrast. Make sure the custard is fully cold before adding the gelatin layer to keep those beautiful, distinct layers intact.
