🛒 Ingredients

5 servings

5
  • 2 kg (4.4 lbs) chicken thighs and drumsticks
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet (about 50 g) dry onion soup mix
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • A few drops of cold water (for marinating)

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 375 °F (190 °C). Line a baking dish with aluminum foil.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, rub the chicken pieces with minced garlic, paprika, salt, pepper, and a few drops of water. Let marinate for 10 minutes.

  3. 3

Pour the onion soup mix onto a flat plate. Press each chicken piece firmly into the mix to coat all sides evenly.

  4. 4

Arrange the coated chicken pieces skin-side up in the prepared baking dish.

  5. 5

Use a pastry brush to spread a generous layer of mayonnaise over the top of each piece.

  6. 6

Bake for 45–55 minutes until deeply golden and crispy. Test doneness by piercing the thickest part — juices should run clear.

  7. 7

Remove from the oven and serve immediately while the crust is at its crunchiest.

💡 Chef's Tip

Don't skip the mayonnaise — it's what creates that stunning golden crust. For extra depth, stir a pinch of dried thyme or garlic powder into the onion soup mix before coating.
