Directions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish (about 33 x 23 cm) with margarine and dust with breadcrumbs. Set aside.
- 2
In a large bowl, combine the chopped broccoli, onion, egg white, oats, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise and salt. Mix until you get a cohesive, slightly firm mixture.
- 3
Dust your hands with breadcrumbs and shape the mixture into small even patties. Arrange them side by side in the prepared dish.
- 4
Bake for 10 minutes, then carefully flip each patty and bake for another 10 minutes until golden brown.
- 5
Remove from the oven. Place a slice of fresh cheese on half the patties, top each with a second patty and return to the oven for 5 minutes until the cheese melts. Serve immediately.
💡 Chef's Tip
For extra flavour, stir a pinch of smoked paprika or garlic powder into the mixture. These patties freeze well before baking — just pop them straight from the freezer into the oven.
