🛒 Ingredients

15 servings

15
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup (250 ml) whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons softened margarine or butter
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons sweetened cocoa powder

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or a loaf pan.

  2. 2

Place the eggs, sugar, margarine, and milk in the blender. Blend on medium speed for 2 minutes until the mixture is completely smooth.

  3. 3

With the blender on low, gradually add the flour in batches until the batter is lump-free and silky.

  4. 4

Pour the batter into a large mixing bowl and gently fold in the baking powder using a spatula.

  5. 5

Transfer about ½ cup of batter into a small bowl. Stir in the cocoa powder until you have a smooth, even chocolate batter.

  6. 6

Pour the plain vanilla batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly.

  7. 7

Using a spoon or piping bag, drizzle the chocolate batter over the surface in thin, irregular streams.

  8. 8

Drag a toothpick or skewer through both batters in figure-eight motions to create the marble pattern.

  9. 9

Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  10. 10

Let the cake cool completely before topping with a chocolate glaze or ganache of your choice.

💡 Chef's Tip

For a richer flavor, swap the margarine for melted unsalted butter and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the plain batter. You can also use dark cocoa powder for a more intense chocolate swirl.
