🛒 Ingredients

6 servings

6
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups (400 g) sugar
  • 4 tablespoons margarine or unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (250 ml) warm milk
  • 3 tablespoons instant coffee
  • 3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ can (200 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup (125 ml) milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon margarine
  • 2 teaspoons instant coffee

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350 °F (180 °C). Grease and flour a cake pan.

  2. 2

Using an electric mixer, beat the eggs with the sugar until the mixture turns pale and fluffy.

  3. 3

Add the margarine and beat again until fully incorporated.

  4. 4

Dissolve the instant coffee in the warm milk, then pour it into the batter while continuing to mix.

  5. 5

Gradually add the flour and baking powder, beating after each addition, until a smooth, lump-free batter forms.

  6. 6

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 35 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

While the cake cools, make the sauce: combine the condensed milk, milk, cocoa powder, margarine, and instant coffee in a saucepan.

  8. 8

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  9. 9

Pour the warm chocolate-coffee sauce generously over the cake and serve.

💡 Chef's Tip

Swap margarine for unsalted butter for a richer depth of flavour. A pinch of cinnamon or cardamom in the batter adds a lovely aromatic twist.
