🛒 Ingredients

40 servings

40
  • 500 g (1.1 lb) vegetable shortening
  • 2 cans sweetened condensed milk (14 oz / 397 g each)
  • 125 g (1 cup) whole dry milk powder
  • Powdered sugar to taste
  • 10 ml (2 tsp) pure vanilla extract
  • Gel food coloring (optional)

Directions

  1. 1

Beat the vegetable shortening in a stand mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes until light and creamy.

  2. 2

Gradually pour in the sweetened condensed milk while continuing to beat on medium speed until fully incorporated.

  3. 3

Add the dry milk powder and vanilla extract, increase to high speed, and beat for 5–7 minutes until the frosting is thick, fluffy, and holds stiff peaks.

  4. 4

Taste and adjust sweetness by mixing in powdered sugar on low speed as needed.

  5. 5

To color the frosting, divide into portions and fold in gel food coloring until evenly tinted.

  6. 6

Transfer to a piping bag with your desired tip and decorate your baked goods.

💡 Chef's Tip

Gel food coloring gives vibrant, consistent results without thinning the frosting. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Before reusing, bring to room temperature and re-whip briefly.
