6 servings

6
  • 500 g (1 lb) fresh peeled shrimp
  • 200 ml (¾ cup) heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) cream cheese
  • 400 g (14 oz) diced cooked ham
  • 400 g (14 oz) diced mozzarella
  • ½ onion, grated
  • 1 vegetable bouillon cube
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) shoestring potato crisps
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Green peas (optional)

Directions

  1. 1

Marinate the shrimp in lemon juice with a pinch of salt for 15 minutes, then drain.

  2. 2

Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the grated onion until soft and translucent.

  3. 3

Add the drained shrimp and crumbled bouillon cube. Cook for 3–4 minutes until the liquid reduces.

  4. 4

Stir in the heavy cream and cream cheese. Mix over low heat until the sauce is smooth and creamy.

  5. 5

Add the diced ham and peas if using. Cook for another 2 minutes, stirring continuously.

  6. 6

Fold in half the mozzarella and stir until it begins to melt into the sauce.

  7. 7

Pour the mixture into a baking dish and top evenly with the remaining mozzarella.

  8. 8

Bake at 180 °C (350 °F) for 10–15 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbling.

  9. 9

Remove from oven and scatter shoestring crisps over the top.

  10. 10

Serve immediately with steamed white rice.

💡 Chef's Tip

For extra depth, add a pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne to the cream sauce. Prepare the creamy base ahead of time and refrigerate — simply top with cheese and bake when ready to serve, adding the crisps only at the last minute.
