Directions
- 1
Peel and boil the potatoes in salted water for about 20 minutes until completely tender. Drain, then mash with butter and warm milk until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper.
- 2
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onion and garlic until golden and fragrant, about 3–4 minutes.
- 3
Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until well browned and all moisture has evaporated. Season with salt, pepper, and parsley. Remove from heat.
- 4
Preheat oven to 200 °C (390 °F). In a greased baking dish, spread a layer of mashed potatoes, top with the beef mixture, then cover with another generous layer of mashed potatoes.
- 5
Sprinkle parmesan all over, then top with shredded mozzarella.
- 6
Bake for 15–20 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown. Rest 5 minutes before serving.
💡 Chef's Tip
Stir a spoonful of tomato paste into the beef for extra depth of flavor. Leftovers reheat beautifully — cover with foil and warm in a 180 °C oven for 15 minutes.
