Directions
- 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, onion soup mix, chopped onion, minced garlic, chives, oregano, salt and pepper. Mix with your hands for 2–3 minutes until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
- 2
Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball, then press firmly into a patty about ¾ inch (2 cm) thick. Press a small indent in the centre of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing during cooking.
- 3
Heat one tablespoon of oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side without pressing them down, until cooked to your liking.
- 4
Allow the patties to rest for 2 minutes before serving. Assemble in toasted buns with your favourite toppings such as lettuce, tomato, pickles and sauce.
💡 Chef's Tip
Season the meat mixture the night before and refrigerate overnight — the flavours deepen significantly. Never press the patties with a spatula while cooking, as this squeezes out all the juices and results in a dry burger.
