🛒 Ingredients

10 servings

10
  • 1 pre-cooked smoked ham (approx. 1.5 kg)
  • 100 ml olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • Whole cloves, to taste
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350 °F (180 °C). Remove the ham from its packaging and place it in a lightly oiled roasting pan.

  2. 2

Spread 1 tablespoon of softened butter evenly over the surface of the ham and drizzle with one quarter of the olive oil.

  3. 3

Roast for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven, place the remaining butter on top, and return to the oven.

  4. 4

Continue roasting for 20–25 minutes, basting every 8 minutes with the remaining olive oil, until the ham is deeply golden and glossy.

  5. 5

Remove from the oven and rest for 5 minutes. Score the surface in a crosshatch pattern and press one whole clove into each intersection.

  6. 6

Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.

💡 Chef's Tip

For a glossier, lightly sweet finish, whisk a tablespoon of honey into the olive oil before the final baste.
