Directions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 355°F on convection mode. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook the frankfurter sausages for 4 to 5 minutes, turning them regularly until they are well browned on all sides.

  3. 3

Meanwhile, slice the hot dog buns open without separating them completely. Lightly toast them dry in the skillet for 1 to 2 minutes to soften them slightly.

  4. 4

Lightly butter the inside of each bun, then spread a layer of Dijon mustard on one side and ketchup on the other to taste.

  5. 5

Place a sausage in each bun and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.

  6. 6

Generously cover each hot dog with shredded cheese. Sprinkle with a pinch of smoked paprika to enhance the flavors.

  7. 7

Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbling, and slightly golden on the surface.

  8. 8

Remove from the oven, let rest for 2 minutes, then sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley. Serve immediately with homemade fries or a green salad.

💡 Chef's Tip

For a perfect and even golden crust, turn on the broiler for the last 2 minutes of cooking while watching carefully—the cheese will caramelize slightly for an even more delicious result. Use a sharp cheddar for a bolder flavor.
