🛒 Ingredients

10 servings

10
  • 200 g ladyfingers or butter cookies
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz / 395 g)
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 egg yolks, strained
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Fresh strawberries for garnish
  • Whipped cream for garnish

Directions

  1. 1

In a medium saucepan, combine the condensed milk, most of the milk (reserving a few tablespoons), strained egg yolks, and vanilla extract.

  2. 2

Dissolve the cornstarch in the reserved milk, then whisk it into the saucepan until fully smooth.

  3. 3

Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously without stopping, until the cream thickens — about 12 to 15 minutes.

  4. 4

Remove from heat and gently fold in the heavy cream. If any lumps form, blend briefly with an immersion blender until silky.

  5. 5

Quickly dip the ladyfingers in sweetened milk and arrange a single layer in a rectangular dish.

  6. 6

Scatter half the sliced strawberries over the biscuit layer, then pour half the warm vanilla cream on top.

  7. 7

Repeat the layers and finish with a generous layer of cream. Decorate with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

💡 Chef's Tip

For the best flavor and texture, make this dessert the night before — the cookies will absorb the cream beautifully overnight. A splash of strawberry liqueur brushed onto the ladyfingers takes it to the next level.
