🛒 Ingredients

12 servings

12
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1¾ cups whole milk, divided
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 egg whites
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 package ladyfinger biscuits
  • 2 tablespoons sweetened cocoa powder

Directions

  1. 1

In a saucepan, combine the condensed milk, 1½ cups of whole milk and the egg yolks. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the custard thickens.

  2. 2

Remove from heat, stir in the vanilla extract and set aside to cool slightly.

  3. 3

Beat egg whites with the sugar until stiff, glossy peaks form.

  4. 4

Gently fold the heavy cream into the meringue with a spatula. Set aside.

  5. 5

Pour the vanilla custard evenly into a serving dish.

  6. 6

Mix the remaining ¼ cup of milk with cocoa powder. Quickly dip each ladyfinger and layer them over the custard.

  7. 7

Spread the meringue and cream mixture on top and dust with cocoa powder.

  8. 8

Refrigerate for at least 3 hours and serve well chilled.

💡 Chef's Tip

For extra indulgence, add a layer of dark chocolate shavings between the ladyfingers and the meringue. Keeps well in the fridge for up to 2 days.
