🛒 Ingredients

4 servings

4
  • 1 small onion
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 hard-boiled egg
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 4 crusty bread rolls
  • 300 g (10.5 oz) ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 10 pitted green olives
  • 1 tablespoon fresh flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
  • 200 g (7 oz) grated mozzarella or mild cheddar
  • 2 ripe tomatoes (or ½ cup tomato sauce)

Directions

  1. 1

Finely chop the onion, garlic, olives, parsley, and hard-boiled egg. Keep each separate and set aside.

  2. 2

Grate the cheese on the coarse side of a box grater. Set aside.

  3. 3

Remove seeds from the tomatoes and blend into a smooth sauce. Set aside.

  4. 4

Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring frequently, until well browned and dry.

  5. 5

Add the onion and garlic and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.

  6. 6

Pour in the tomato sauce, season with salt and pepper, and simmer until all liquid has evaporated.

  7. 7

Remove from heat and stir in the olives, parsley, and chopped egg. Let cool for 5 minutes.

  8. 8

Fold in the grated cheese until the filling is well combined. Set aside.

  9. 9

Cut the top off each roll and hollow out the inside with your fingers, reserving the bread pieces.

  10. 10

Fill each roll generously with the beef mixture, then seal with the reserved bread, pressing lightly.

💡 Chef's Tip

For extra crunch and perfectly melted cheese, place the stuffed rolls in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 8–10 minutes before serving.
