🛒 Ingredients

10 servings

10
  • 10 chicken thighs and drumsticks
  • 200 g smoked bacon strips
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream or crème fraîche
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons dried herbs (thyme, rosemary, oregano)
  • 1 can lager beer (330 ml)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

  1. 1

Rinse the chicken pieces under cold water and pat them thoroughly dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

In a bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, sour cream, minced garlic, dried herbs, salt, and pepper until you have a smooth marinade.

  3. 3

Generously coat each chicken piece with the marinade, making sure every surface is well covered.

  4. 4

Wrap each chicken piece snugly with a strip of bacon and arrange them in a lightly oiled baking dish.

  5. 5

Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for deeper flavor.

  6. 6

Remove the dish from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking to bring it to room temperature and avoid cracking the dish.

  7. 7

    Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).

  8. 8

Gently pour the beer over the chicken and roast for 90 minutes, basting with the cooking juices every 30 minutes.

  9. 9

Switch to the broiler for the last 5 minutes to achieve a beautifully golden, crispy skin.

💡 Chef's Tip

Pour the cooking juices into a small saucepan and reduce over high heat for 5 minutes to make a glossy, concentrated sauce. Serve alongside steamed potatoes or creamy mashed potatoes for a complete and satisfying meal.
