🛒 Ingredients

3 servings

3
  • 1 cup rinsed white rice
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1/4 onion, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. 1

Heat the olive oil in a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat.

  2. 2

Sauté the crushed garlic and diced onion for about 2 minutes until softened and lightly golden.

  3. 3

Add the rinsed rice and stir-fry for 30 seconds, coating every grain with the oil.

  4. 4

Pour in the boiling water, season with salt, and stir just once to combine.

  5. 5

Lower the heat to minimum and cook uncovered until the water is almost completely absorbed.

  6. 6

Cover tightly, turn off the heat, and let the rice rest undisturbed for 20 minutes before fluffing with a fork.

💡 Chef's Tip

Always add boiling water — cold water will make the rice gummy. Keep a strict 1:2 ratio (rice to water) and resist lifting the lid during the resting phase for perfectly separate grains.
